Emirates A380 Singapore to Dubai to London

We were off on a holiday! This time, we are flying with Emirates for the first time, flying on the A380.  It was going to be a very good experience.  Our destination was London.  We would have to fly Singapore to Dubai, have a 2.5 hour layover, before an onward flight from Dubai to London.

Flight video - Singapore to Dubai

The flight from Singapore departed at 9pm local time.  We would arrive in Dubai at 0100hrs local time.  The flight to London was 0310hrs local time.  Flight time from Singapore to Dubai was about 7 hours.  We experienced some delays getting into Dubai because the airspace was congested.  Our plane was put on a holding pattern for 30 minutes.  Maybe Dubai needs a new runway too!

After we landed, during our layover at Dubai International, we had burger and fries at Shake Shack. The burger was freshly prepared and tasted good.  After the burger, we had to make our way to the departure gates for the flight to London.  We had to take a shuttle bus.  The journey was quite long but we had a great view of the airport and the many big planes. Check out this video I made.

This video was for the flight from Dubai to London. Another good flight on Emirates.  The Economy class experience is certainly a superior one.

Even though the flight departed from Dubai slightly late, our arrival in London was on time.

I am Singaporean and I am a big fan of Singapore Airlines, having flown with them many times. However, I must say that the Emirates Economy class is as good, and in some ways, even better than SQ.

One clear example is that the Emirates In-Flight Entertainment system is better and more user-friendly.  It is a touch-screen (SQ's KrisWorld is not) and the screen is even larger than SQ's.  They also have the airshow (cameras to watch outside) and I like that very much.

British Airways London to Dublin and return in Business Class plus Dublin Airport DAA Lounge

British Airways - London to Dublin Flight in Business

British Airways - Dublin to London Flight in Business

Dublin Airport and Lounge
I was flying from Dublin to London, this was in late 2013.  Here I was, check-in counters of Dublin Airport.

Flying Club Europe today.

Terminal 1 Lounge.  I read somewhere that you could access this lounge for 20 Euros per passenger.

Lounge was not full when I got there, but it quickly filled up.

Self-service area.

Alcoholic beverages were limited to two per person.  I can't drink so much anyway.

Cereals for breakfast.

Crackers.

Irish stone-ground whole wheat.

The King standing on the King of Beers.

What about a King on a Guiness.

Thanks for reading.

London Kensington Gardens to Hyde Park Speaker's Corner - London, early morning

Due to jet lag, I got up rather early.  Since Kensington gardens was nearby, I decided to talk a long walk before breakfast and the official day started, just to enjoy the scenery and the very cool weather in London during September.

It was an awesome walk.  Check out my video below.

Thanks for viewing.

Bayswater, Queensway, Four Seasons - Roast Duck

Bayswater, Queensway, London.

Bayswater, Zone 1 London.  This is a popular haunt for Asian students and it certainly brought back plenty of memories during my short visit in Sep 2014.  I stopped there briefly just to walk around and to see what had changed.

Check out my video.

I arrived at Bayswater tube station, on the Circle Line.  This place certainly looked the same from 15 years ago.

Of course, the advertisement would have changed.

The tube network from this station. District and Circle lines.

Right outside the Tube station.

From the tube station, this road leads to the Whiteley's shopping centre.

Four Seasons chinese restaurant.  Famous for its roast duck.  They also have 2 other branches in London Chinatown.

This place looks the same!

Yes, Bella Italia has been around forever.  I don't remember every dining here during my student days and I didn't intend to dine here today!

Whiteley's shopping centre.  This place is quite historical.  Apparently, when built, it was the first shopping centre of its kind in Europe!

The place wasn't that big.  Here was the store directory.

I kept walking.

Just opposite Whiteleys.

FOUR SEASONS DUCK RICE
This is the famous duck rice.  As I was alone, I decided to live like a student again.  Just order a plate of duck rice for dinner.  The serving doesn't look big but it was certainly enough for my dinner.  The portion of duck was fairly generous.  As expected, the duck tasted very good.  I recall paying close to 8 pounds for this.

This was the menu from the outside.

The best roast duck in the world, so they claim.  Well, I am not sure if this is really the best but it was certainly very good, if not excellent.  That said, I was told that the roast duck in Hong Kong tasted better.

From the outside.  Note the takeaway packs.  Quite common for takeaways.

Another picture from the outside.  Notice the TIGER beer advertisement. Tiger beer comes from Singapore.

After dinner, I continue my walk.

Sainsbury local, just next to Bayswater tube station.  I think this wasn't around during my time as a student.

Kam Tong Restaurant - any good?

See the cyclists on Boris bicycles.

Still rather early.

Oriental Supermarket - they sold some interesting stuff in there.

That was Royal China, another famous chinese restaurant known for dim sum.

Mandarin kitchen, known for lobster noodles.  Check out my other post for some pictures of my dinner there.

Not sure how good this New Fortune Cookie was.

At the junction.

Bayswater hasn't changed much.  Wonder if there are re-development plans for this area.  I heard there were.  This was Zone 1 London after all.

Here is the link to my post on Mandarin Kitchen - Lobster noodles.
