Silk Air Langkawi to Singapore on Airbus A320, Langkawi International Airport

Very soon, it was time to head back to Singapore. A short but fun trip to Langkawi. I flew here on Air Asia but I am flying home on Silk Air, which is Singapore Airlines regional subsidiary. I don't fly Silk Air very often, so this would be interesting. SilkAir operates a short-haul fleet, currently a mix of Airbus A319, A320 and Boeing 737.

However, I think they have ordered the upcoming Boeing 737-MAX and will phase out their Airbus fleet over time. Before the fight, here is a video of the Langkawi international airport. We had some time at the airport, but it was a small airport. There was time for a meal (some dinner) before the flight.

After security. This airport did not have any aero-bridges. We would need to walk on the tarmac to the plane, just like when we arrived. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Let me proceed to the flight itself. It was on a Silk Air Airbus A320. A short flight, just 1hr 15 minutes. Here is the video flight review. In the review, I show you the snack as well as the inflight enterntainment studio system that requires you to use your own device to stream the movies. I used my iphone to try some movies, just to see whether it worked, and it did. SilkAir planes are not fitted with any IFE screens so if you want to watch any movies, you would have to use your own device. Anyway, the selection wasn't great.

Cabin crew at the back galley. Only the front door of the aircraft was opened. The crew would have flown in from Singapore earlier, since Silk Air does not have a change of crew in Langkawi. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The flight back to Singapore was short and uneventful, which wasn't a bad thing. Immigration control at Changi was quite empty, which was a relief. I wanted to get home quickly. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As I did not have any check-in luggage, after immigration, I got out to the public area quickly and headed to the taxi stand. The line was not too long and it moved quite fast. Within 5 minutes, I was in a taxi on the way home. Thank God for safe travels. Thanks for reading! Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tiger Airways Singapore to Hong Kong Flight Review, Tsui Wah Breakfast plus HKIA #Tigerair

We flew to Hong Kong and back recently on Tiger Airways, budget carrier owned by Singapore Airlines. Based in Singapore, TigerAir operates a fleet of 25 aircraft (Airbus A320) to almost 40 destinations.

This is the first time we are flying with Tigerair.

Overall, the flight for 4 pax (2 adults and 2 kids) cost us SGD $530 in total including taxes, return. This is about USD 375 or US93.75 per person. The flight from SIN to HKG takes almost 4 hours and the return leg about 3.5 hours.

Our departure was early morning, 0605hrs.

In this video, I show you snippets of Singapore Changi Airport that morning.

This is in the restricted area, after immigration. The time was around 5am. Many stores were still closed, though most of the eateries were opened. This is Singapore Changi Terminal 2. Well, we don't have a 24 by 7 airport, unlike Dubai. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cockpit door was not yet closed. Passengers were still boarding. I could see the cockpit crew doing preparatory work for this flight. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This video shows you the flight itself. Pretty smooth. We ate breakfast before boarding the aircraft, so we did not purchase any food while on board.  We ate some breakfast before the flight.  After landing at HKIA, we also we had some food before making our way into town.

This video shows you some footage post arrival at HK International. We were at a satellite terminal and we had to take an airport bus to the main terminal. It was a very bright and sunny day. HK was going to be hot!

Before taking the airport bus A21 to Tsim Sha Tsui, we had breakfast at an eatery called Tsui Wah, at the public departure area of Terminal 1 HKIA. Image and video hosting by TinyPic They do breakfast sets. Easy to order, easy to eat. The kids loved it. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Here is a video of the walk to Tsui Wah and what we had for breakfast, after landing at HKIA.

After arrival at HKG, we had some food at an airport eatery called Tsui Wah. Once our stomachs were filled, it was time to head into Hong Kong. We took Citybus A21 to Tsim Sha Tsui area, where our hotel would be.

SwissAir - Singapore to Zurich to Rome

Swiss Air Flight (November 2013)
LX 179 - Singapore to Zurich
LX 1726 - Zurich to Rome

Our family would be flying to Rome for a cruise holiday on the Celebrity Silhouette.  We managed to snag a very good deal on the Swiss Air flight.  The connection was quite tight (arrive Zurich 0600, depart Rome 0720) because we were told that we had to change terminals.

Here is the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyTZjHBnKYU

Changi Airport Terminal 2.

LX 179 to Zurich departing 2335 at gate E26.

We had center aisle seats, therefore I couldn't take any photos of the take-off.  Supper was served shortly after take-off. The merlot was very easy to drink.

I finished it all.

Child's meal.  Kids enjoyed it.

Some selection of movies for children.  It kept them suitably entertained during the waking hours.

That's breakfast!

Breakfast for adults.

Swiss gives out nice chocolates at the end of the flight.

They look good and taste good.

Goodbye!  Arrival was on time.

It ended up that the plane parked at the European terminal.  So we did not need to change terminals and that saved us some hassle. Walking along the Terminal.

Looking for the gates of the connecting flight.  We had to go through security and immigration.  There were no lines that early morning.  That helped!

Waiting at the gate to board the flight to Rome.

This was a close-up shot of the controls at the aero-bridge, at the aircraft gate.  Looks very cool!

We are seated in the Airbus A320.

Shortly after take-off.  See the mountains above the clouds.

Those are mountains sticking above the clouds.  Beautiful sight!

That looked like some roads in the valley?  Not sure.  Wonder what it is like to live there.

Just landed in Rome.  Arrival was on time.  Alitalia planes, as expected.

Spotted an easyJet.

Baggage claim area.  As we flew in from Zurich, there was no immigration control.

Took about 30 minutes for the baggage to reach the carousel.

Thank you for reading.
