Adventure of the Seas Day 10 - Molde, Norway - Part 2

In Part 1, we had arrived in Molde on a Sunday morning.  After a leisurely breakfast, we made our way, by foot, from the ship to the Romsdal Museum, which was the start of the trek to Varden Viewpoint.

It would be 3.2km from this point.   And we set off.  In posts on cruise critic, some said they could get up to the peak in one hour.  Let's see how long we would take.

Looking back, as we walk up.

In the beginning, the path was easy.

Uphill, though.

Along the way, you see these signs that point you in the correct direction and give you the distance remaining.

This group - they were from the cruise ship.  There was a cruise tour that would bring you up to the peak, and then you get to walk down.

Some of the passengers told me that there was still a long way to go from here!  Indeed, it was.

See the ship in the distance!

More of the directional signs.  Actually, you won't get lost because there was only one path upwards, other than one fork along the way.

You can see that the path becomes less even, and slightly more challenging.

The views get better too.  See the ship, the fjords, the mountains the background.

Walk, walk, walk.

We were almost there.  This sign said Varden, 0.4km.

There is the ship.  To think that we walked all the way here by foot, and we would have to walk back!

We have arrived at the summit.  Quite busy.

Here is the view.

There was this hut, but it was not open.

At the other end, there was a restaurant, but it was also shut when we were there.

Now, that's a great view of the ship yah.

Wonder what this was.

The other side.

You can see a tour coach.  Also, see all the mountains in the background.

The vegetation.

Some convertibles parked here.  It looked fairly easy to drive up.  But we didn't rent a car today.

So, how long did we take to reach here from the start point opposite Romsdal Museum?  I think it was 1.5 hours.  And we walked at a pretty good pace, so I thought.  So, do budget sufficient time to make the ascent, if indeed you feel like taking a good hike up.

Here is a video of what you can see at the peak, also available in HD.
