This was the waiting area for the small boats to the caves. There was a huge crowd!
The waiting times were long. Unfortunately, there were too many people that day.
We waited for more than an hour for our turn.
These were the small motorized craft that would bring us to the National Park.
So many boats waiting.
So many more! What's the choke point?
This was the choke point. Only one place to alight and board.
Look at the crowd. Everybody was patiently waiting.
One boat unloading its passengers. You can see that the place was very rustic. The tourist infrastructure wasn't very well developed.
Yes, we were on the maiden call to the Port of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. We made history!
There was a basketball court nearby.
Well, at least everybody was patiently waiting.
This gives you a good idea of the boarding process.
Slow, painfully slow.
It was a very bright and sunny day though. Weather was good.
Loading and unloading continues.
Each boat can only seat 8.
Just alighted.
Look at that old granny! Well done Madam!
Now, it was our turn to get on board.
It was to be a 20 minute boatride into the National Park. It was really noisy! Look at the boatman perched perilously out there.
Quite a long way to go.
Thankfully the seas were quite calm. Otherwise, we would be throwing up.
Almost feels like an episode from Survivor.
Yes, Survivor Palawan!
No joke, there really was a Survivor Palawan Islands.
You don't believe me?
Alright, just go Google.
Hmmm, apparently there was a Palawan Massacre. Quite terrible.
Anyways.
We are still at sea.
Hope we reach soon.
We seem to be turning into some bay.
Yups, we were.
Chugging along.
On the way to the beach.
The scenery was very beautiful though.
Approaching the beach, we could see other boats ahead of us.
Nice.
Interesting rock formation.
That's taken from the beach.
To be continued in Part 3!
